Biography

Barbara A. Nagel, California native and an Award Winning artist, has a unique representational style and a strong sense of color and design. Her paintings of California reflect her love of its historical landmarks, sea and landscapes and the State's natural diversity; a never ending source of creative inspiration. She also enjoys painting florals, still life and abstract art.

Primarily a watercolorist, Barbara also works in Prismacolor Pencil and Pastel. Although self-taught, she continues to enhance her skills through attending workshops with outstanding watercolor artists. In addition, Barbara teaches Art and Watercolor to children ages 7 through 10.

Barbara's painting of the Mission in Carmel is in the private collection of a well known Central Coast TV anchor and her husband, a famous film star and director. Other of her works are in private collections throughout the United States as well as Australia, Canada, Japan and Sweden.

In addition to her fine art, this artist has created beautiful and vibrant watercolor illustrations of Signs of the Zodiac. A uniquely different interpretation of each sign masterfully incorporates a human or partial human figure as part of each symbol.

Barbara has had four well attended and successful one woman shows and is a frequent exhibitor in many juried events. She has served as the Assistant Gallery Director of the Fremont Art Association and as Program Chair of the Olive Hyde Art Guild.
